  • Over the last decade our understanding of autoimmune disorders has greatly advanced resulting in increasing number of therapeutic targets available in the clinics, changing the paradigm on how we manage our Rheumatic patients. With the rising new data on autoimmune rheumatic conditions, and the paradigm shift on managing complex rheumatic conditions it is essential to highlight and carefully review these scientific advances. There is critical value to review and underline the latest information especially in our most challenging rheumatic conditions such as vasculitis, systemic sclerosis and systemic lupus erythematosus, so we can utilize these advances in the care of our sick patients and to assist our primary care providers to recognize these conditions early on and facilitate timely referrals of these patients. Use of various diagnostic tests in rheumatology is widely expanding. There is therefore a need to advance the knowledge of skill sets of primary care providers and rheumatologists into areas that would ultimately benefit patients by providing a means of meaningful and expedient evaluation, and systems of care that seek to lower high costs of healthcare. Hence we established the review course here with the goal of care full review of the latest data on a number of our complex rheumatic conditions.
